| Sneha founder to be honoured by Royal College of Psychiatrists |

Dr Lakshmi Vijayakumar, founder of suicide prevention centre Sneha, will be conferred the Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych), the Royal College of Psychiatrists announced in a press release. The second Indian and the first Indian woman psychiatrist to receive the award, Dr Vijayakumar is the National Representative for India of the International Association of Suicide Prevention (IASP), member of the World Health Organisation International Network for suicide research and prevention. She is also the first Indian member of the International Academy of suicide research and the first Asian vice-president of the IASP. The Fellowship, the highest award given by the College, was being given to Dr Vijayakumar for her work in suicide prevention locally, nationally and internationally, and in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the profession and to the College, the release said.
