The British Academy of Bollywood Arts is aimed at anyone who wants to learn more about acting, dancing and entertainment.

It was founded by Faraz Chohan, a Birmingham City University-trained former teacher.

Faraz, aged 23, said: "The academy will allow Bollywood and Indian performing arts to reach children and adults of all ethnic origins, backgrounds ages and disabilities. This has taken three years of planning but the success of Slumdog inspired me more.

"I am also writing a documentary which will begin shooting in August about people from Britain trying to get into Bollywood."

A former pupil at Moseley School, Faraz said: "The course has been given National Certificate of Further Education accreditation so we can award NVQ Level 1 and 2."

The courses, including tuition in acting, dancing, modelling and singing, will begin on Wednesday and run from Tuesdays to Fridays. It will cost £99 to enrol, which will include a T-shirt, goodie bag and personal portfolio, followed by £70 per ten-week term.

The new academy is based at the Birmingham Independent School of Performing Arts in Moseley, the 'Flame Academy' for young talent run by Birmingham theatre producer Ian Sandy in the converted Old Fire Station building.

More information is available at www.bispa.co.uk  or from Faraz on 07531 000 589.
