Indian version of 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! ' starts July
ITV Studios has struck its first Indian format deal and will coproduce a version of popular reality show I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! for Sony Entertainment Television.

Sony TV has an audience reach of 60 million people in India.

Ten celebrities will be taken to the Taman Negara rainforest in Malaysia and take part in challenges similar to the UK version.

The show will be produced in Hindi and is earmarked for telecast on weeknights in a primetime slot through July.

Silverback chief executive Anna Carrfors will oversee production, along with ITV Studios producer Tammy Hoyle. Celebrities taking part and presenters will be confirmed later this month.

Since its debut in 2002, the brand has generated more than £170m from production, distribution and format deals. It recently launched on NBC in the US and Swedish broadcaster TV4 will launch it in autumn. Series are already made in Germany and Hungary.

ITV Global Content formats director Remy Blumenfeld said ITV would focus on expanding the brand through Europe and Asia.

"This is a brand that has universal appeal - and our new way of producing the show gives all different scale broadcasters an opportunity to bring it to their market," he said.
